Philadelphia's City Hall


Philadelphias City Hall, at 548 ft, is the largest masonary building in the world. With more than 700 rooms it is the largest municipal building in the US. Designed by John Mc Arthur, it was under construction from 1871-1901 and cost 24 million dollar to complete. William Penn, founder of the city sits atop the building with an unobstructed view of the Delaware River. The 37 ft bronze statue of Penn was executed by Alexander Milne Calder.
